A man was critically injured in a wreck in Clarksville last night, with police saying charges are pending. A news release says the crash happened around 8:20 at the intersection of Purple Heart Highway and Evans Road. A 19-year old male driver was northbound on Evans and reportedly ran the stop sign at Purple Heart and drove into the path of an eastbound vehicle operated by a 36-year old female. The woman was unable to avoid a collision and hit the car near the rear tire area. The 19-year old’s back seat passenger, a 28-year old male, sustained injuries to the head and chest and was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition. Police say he was not wearing a seat belt. Everyone else involved went uninjured. Public Information Officer Jim Knoll says the investigation is ongoing and that charges are pending. ** 01/22/2013/am |
