Kentucky Senator offers remarks on President Obama's inauguration

President Barack Obama was officially sworn into office Sunday for another term with millions of citizens across the nation watching the inaugural ceremonies unfold.

U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell released the following statement today on the inauguration of President Obama.

Senator McConnell stated that the President’s second term represents a fresh start when it comes to dealing with the great challenges of our day; particularly, the transcendent challenge of unsustainable federal spending and debt.

Senator McConnell also stated Republicans are eager to work with the President on achieving this common goal, and we firmly believe that divided government provides the perfect opportunity to do so.

Senator McConnell commented that together as a nation, a lot could be accomplished and that he was optimistic about the country’s future in the next four years.
