Kentuckians near the top in country in cat and dog ownership

Kentucky is one of the top states in the nation for cat and dog ownership.

Nearly 46-percent of residents own dogs, placing it third in that category behind Arkansas and New Mexico.

The state came in seventh for cat ownership with nearly 37-percent of the households having a feline. The numbers did not place the state in the top ten overall for pet ownership according to the American Veterinary Medical Association.
