Woman killed in wreck east of Sharon Grove in Logan Co.

A woman and her grandson were killed in a single-vehicle wreck just across the Todd County line in Logan County Thursday afternoon.

A news release from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office says 54-year old Barbara Christian of 4496 Spa Road, Lewisburg was pronounced dead on the scene of the single-vehicle crash just before 1pm.

Police say Ms. Christian was eastbound on Spa Road, also known as KY 106, when the tires of her SUV dropped off the shoulder of the pavement. She over-corrected, causing the vehicle to overturn several times ejecting her and grandson 3-year old Eli Jessup.

A helicopter ambulance took Jessup to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. Police say Ms. Christian was not wearing a seat belt. Police have not said whether the child was in a booster seat. The investigation of the wreck by Lieutenant Jeff Sanford is ongoing.
