More details released on Wildwood shooting

Hopkinsville Police continue to investigate a drive-by shooting incident on Wildwood Drive from Wednesday, with more information now known.

Public Information Officer Paul Ray says police first responded to the 200 block of Wildwood around 3:30 to the report of shots fired, but the victim wasn’t known until several hours later.

Officer Adam Robertson spoke to the victim, 19-year old Deaerion Dowey of Hopkinsville, who said he had been walking along Wildwood when he was shot by someone in a baby blue-colored Chrysler 300.

He described the driver of the car as a light-skinned black male wearing a black cap and the passenger as a light-skinned black male wearing a red hoodie.

Dowey sustained what are described on the report as minor injuries to the upper right leg and was treated at the hospital. Anyone with information on the incident should call Crime Stoppers at 887-TIPS.
