A Calvert City man was taken into custody following a joint investigation made by multiple local and federal law enforcement agencies.
42-year old Claude Johnson of Calvert City is charged with two counts of Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 2nd or greater offense – Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Defaced Firearm.
On January 15th a joint investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force, ATF, and the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office culminated on Monday.
Officers with the Marshall County Special Response Team made entry into a home on Retirement Circle, just west of Calvert City in order to serve an arrest warrant on Johnson.
In the course of the arrest, detectives seized methamphetamine, a sawed off shotgun, $15,000 cash, and other contraband.
Marshall County Sheriff Kevin Byars stated he was glad that the hard work paid off and that the drugs and their proceeds were taken off the streets. ** (01/16/2013/MF)
