Governor Steve Beshear and Lieutenant Governor Jerry Abramson are urging Kentuckians to find volunteer opportunities this weekend to honor Dr. King’s legacy as part of the national observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Governor Beshear stated whether you join a community volunteer effort or organize your own event or small project, your participation can make a difference in our Commonwealth.
Lieutenant Governor Abramson also remarked this willingness to help neighbors or clean up our neighborhoods is part of what makes Kentucky such a terrific place to live and raise a family.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be observed on Monday, January 21st.
This year, the Presidential inauguration coincides with the King holiday, and President Obama is also urging all Americans to volunteer.
