Child killed in Bypass wreck identified

A few more details are now known about the single-vehicle wreck that claimed the life of a four-year old girl on the Bypass last night.

The Hopkinsville Police report says the crash happened about 6:05 near Martin Luther King Elementary School when 29-year old Amber Coleman of Velma Drive lost control of her vehicle on the icy bridge and struck the guardrail, causing her SUV to flip.

Her daughter, 4-year old Brooklyn Coleman, was not in a booster seat and was pronounced dead on the scene by Christian County Coroner Doris Lamb. Amber Coleman went to Jennie Stuart for leg injuries and another passenger—29-year old Brian Baker of Shelbyville, Kentucky; did not go to the hospital despite complaining of some minor injuries.

The report says Baker and Amber Coleman were wearing their seat belt.
