Winter Weather Update

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Christian and Trigg Counties through 2am, while Todd has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning and Montgomery to an Ice Storm Warning.

The National Weather Service says one to two tenths of an inch of ice accumulation is expected in Christian and Trigg, a quarter of an inch of ice in Todd and up to a half inch of ice in Montgomery County by the time the freezing rain ends sometime early in the morning hours.

Roads could become slick tonight, especially on bridges and overpasses, while there is also the possibility of breaking branches as ice accumulates on trees. There was hope the precipitation would begin as rain this evening, but the temperature has never made it above the freezing mark under cloudy skies.

The Todd and Montgomery County school systems dismissed early today in advance of the storm system and Christian County has canceled all after-school activities for tonight.

A complete list of our closings and cancellations is available on our websites. Stay tuned to the WHOP family of stations for the latest on this developing weather situation.
