Winter Weather Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of our listening area for this afternoon and tonight as a wintry mix is expected to move through the region.

The advisory for Christian, Todd, Trigg, Muhlenberg, Caldwell, Hopkins, Lyon, Calloway and Marshall Counties runs from 3pm until 2am as precipitation could start out as rain and transition to freezing rain and sleet as the sun begins to go down. It could begin as a wintry mix if the temperature struggles to rise above the freezing mark.

Ice accumulations of one to two tenths of an inch are expected south of a line extending from Clinton to Greenville. The advisory for middle Tennessee including Montgomery, Stewart, Cheatham, Davidson and Robertson Counties is in effect through 8am, with up to a quarter of an inch of ice expected there.

Todd County schools are releasing two hours early and officials with the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System have already announced they will close an hour early so they can complete all bus routes before dark.  Stay tuned to the WHOP family of stations and to our Facebook page and website for the latest information on this weather situation.
