Hopkinsville’s public smoking ban has been effect for two weeks now and Mayor Dan Kemp says it’s been going smoothly.

Mayor Kemp recently appeared on the Lite 98.7 Early Bird Show and said the few questions asked about the ban initially were quickly addressed.

Some business owners and citizens were adamantly opposed to the ordinance, but Mayor Kemp says there were some businesses that wanted it passed in hopes more customers would come.

Mayor Kemp said he had talked with mayors of other Kentucky cities that implemented smoking bans and they told him the process would go well after the initial turmoil in getting the ordinance passed by city council.
