Kentucky State Police and the Kentucky State Fire Marshall’s Office have determined a Warren County residence was intentionally set on fire Thursday night.

State Police say around 8 p.m. the Woodburn Fire Department responded to a residential fire located 38-88 Woodburn-Allen Springs Road.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, the fire was concentrated in back of the residence.
Police identified the homeowners as Melvin and Nora Williams, who were not at home when the fire occurred.

Police say the couple was in the process of relocating to a second home located in Butler County.

Officials with the Kentucky State Fire Marshall’s Office responded to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire and preliminary investigation indicated there were multiple areas of origin.

Police say the arson was an attempt to conceal a burglary.
