
2012 United Way of the Pennyrile Campaign Chair, Mayor Dan Kemp could hardly contain himself tonight as he excitedly announced that the total amount raised during the fundraising campaign, exceeded everyone’s expectations.
The total amount raised last year was $754,163 which far exceeded the campaign goal of $738,000 with organizers saying it would not have been possible without the efforts of hundreds of volunteers.
Mayor Kemp stated he was proud to live in a community, where residents and business leaders give back to worthy causes like the United Way.
Mayor Kemp also stated he was thrilled to announce the total fundraising amount.
Looking back, Mayor Kemp commented that he, along with his wife, Henrietta who served as Co-Chair, felt honored to have chaired the annual fundraising campaign.
The 2012 J. William Flowers Award went to Vonda Gates and Laura Thomas, while the People Helping People Small Firm Award went to Hopkinsville Solid Waste Authority, the Medium Firm Award went to Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority, the Large Firm Award was presented to Heritage Bank and the Overall People Helping People Award given to the Christian County Chamber of Commerce.
Sandy Grogan of Pennyrile Electric was nominated as the 2013 United Way of the Pennyrile Campaign Chair with Chad Hancock nominated as Treasurer.
