| Further discussions needed concerning curbside recycling |

Officials with the Pennyrile Solid Waste Management Authority met this afternoon to discuss several options in whether or not curbside recycling was feasible in the City of Hopkinsville.
Board Chairman Tom Jones spoke about future plans to further discuss the systems needed to handle a large amount of recyclable materials that may be collected through curbside services. The equipment cost of a small manual sort system that is capable of sorting out about 7 to 10 tons of materials per hour ranged in price from $600,000 to $1 million dollars, while a large automated sort system capable of handling 20 to 25 tons of materials per hour would cost anywhere from $3 million to $4.5 million. The Hopkinsville Christian County Recycling Program collected over 475 tons of recyclable materials last year.
