A man found walking on West 2nd Street was arrested last night on drug trafficking and gun charges.

The arrest card for 24-year old Marcus Lane of Hopkinsville says officers witnessed him walking west on 2nd in the middle of the road. Police confronted him after he began walking in the right lane with the flow of traffic.

Officers Jon Sholar and Terry Bigbee noticed a bulge in Lane’s backpack and felt the gun when they patted him down for weapons. He also allegedly tried to flee, but was wrestled to the ground. Police say they found several small bags of marijuana, a digital scale and a loaded handgun on Lane.

He was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
