The Cadiz Police Department has a new chief and he is very familiar to residents across the southern Pennyrile.

Sgt. Chad Grace was sworn in by Trigg County Judge-Executive and former Chief Hollis Alexander at the Tuesday night meeting of Cadiz City Council.

The 33-year old Grace graduated from the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training Police Academy in 2003. He previously worked at the Christian County Sheriff’s Department and Todd County Sheriff’s Department. He was hired at the Cadiz Police Department in 2006 and was promoted to sergeant last year. Grace was one of three Cadiz officers who applied to be chief.

Chief Grace said he was appreciative of the council’s confidence in him and that he looks forward to leading the police department in the years ahead.

The Cadiz Police Department has six full-time officers and four part-time officers, including a school resource officer assigned to the Trigg County School System. Chief Grace said one of his first priorities will be to hire another full-time officer to bring the department up to full force. He says he doesn’t see any major changes coming in the near future for the department.

Chief Grace replaces Major Duncan Wiggins, who had served as interim Chief after Judge Alexander received a Governor’s appointment to his current position at the beginning of the year.
