| General Assembly opens in Frankfort |
|
The Kentucky General Assembly is officially in session after the gavel dropped in Frankfort this afternoon. Kentucky Supreme Court Chief Justice John Minton administered the oath of office to all representatives soon after noon eastern time.
The local contingent in the House is mostly the same as last year, with the exception of portions of Trigg County where Kenny Imes represents the northwestern part of the county and all of Calloway. Representative John Tilley represents the rest of Trigg County. Representatives Tilley, Myron Dossett and Brent Yonts represent Christian County and Representative Martha Jane King represents Todd and Logan Counties. The local contingent in the State Senate is completely different from last year, as State Senator Whitney Westerfield now represents Christian, Todd and Logan Counties—while Senator Stan Humphries represents Trigg and many other western Kentucky Counties. Four days of the session this week will be used mostly for administrative matters. ** 01/08/2013/am |
