HPD: Hillaire Shooting was double-murder-suicide

3dead

Hopkinsville Police are investigating the Saturday morning shooting on Hillaire Drive that left three people dead as a double-murder suicide.

Sgt. Kyle Spurlin identified the three deceased individuals as 67-year old Tommie, 66-year old Linda and 38-year old Brian Summers. Police have not formally said who the gunman was, but will say they believe he is among the dead.

The first call came out around 10am at 309 Hillaire, with Sgt. Spurlin giving details on what police soon determined.

Sgt. Spurlin said investigators are very confident that the shooter is dead and are not pursuing any other suspects.

The police report says Kenneth Summers, who is a family member, found the crime scene.

Police are not sure exactly when the shooting took place, but believed it was sometime Saturday morning.

One man was alive when officers arrived and an Air Evac helicopter was called to the scene. The man would ultimately be taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. Autopsies were scheduled at the Regional Medical Examiner's Office in Madisonville Sunday to determine exactly who the shooter was.

A small dog also sustained gunshot wounds to the nose and ear during the incident, though officials at the Christian County Humane Society said they expected the pet to live.

We will have more information as it becomes available.
