Hopkinsville Police are investigating a shooting incident from downtown early this morning.

The incident happened around 1am in the area of 11^th and Liberty when officers working an unrelated call a few streets over heard shots fired, but didn’t immediately find anything suspicious. Officer Joseph Garcia said that minutes later, the ECC got a call from Jennie Stuart Medical Center saying a male had come in with a gunshot wound to the leg.

The injuries to the victim, identified as 26-year old Travis Thomas, were not thought to be life-threatening. Officer Garcia says the investigation is ongoing and that no suspects had been immediately identified.
