Councilman Don Ahart elected as next Committee of the Whole Chairman

Hopkinsville City Council met tonight for the first time during the New Year and welcomed two new council members and elected a new Committee of the Whole Chairman.

Mayor Dan Kemp officially welcomed Ward 1 Councilman Thomas Grant and Ward 7 Councilman Buddy Oglesby to the council.

Shortly after being elected as Committee of the Whole Chairman, Councilman Don Ahart stated he was shocked, but honored to be elected to the position that was previously held by Ward 12 Councilman Phillip Brooks.



Councilman Ahart will convene over the next the Committee of the Whole meeting, which is scheduled to take place Thursday, January 17th at 6 p.m. at council chambers.

In other action, council members unanimously authorized the installation of two cross-walks in the areas of 17th and High Street and Susan Avenue.

City Council then went into closed session, but took no action to discuss property acquisition and pending litigation.
