As the 113th Congress convenes a Kentucky Senator says the focus should now be turned to spending cuts.
U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following statement on the Senate floor today regarding the beginning of the 113th Congress and the need to find a solution on out-of-control spending in Washington.
Senator McConnell was quoted as saying he saw a recent survey that stated about three fourths of all Americans say they want to see major spending cuts in Washington.
McConnell stated that in a couple of months, the President will ask to raise the nation’s debt limit, something McConnell says without agreeing to reforms that lower the avalanche of spending that’s creating this debt in the first place, increasing the borrowing limit should be out of the question. **
