Natural gas leak temporarily closes Pembroke Road

Pembroke Road was closed for about 20 minutes at the Bypass this morning while crews worked to get a natural gas leak stopped.

The Hopkinsville Fire Departments responded around 9am after someone called the ECC to report a strong smell of gas and a hissing sound. Fire-fighters confirmed a leak and evacuated nearby B and M Industrial Supply as a precaution. Minutes later, they closed Pembroke Road.

Atmos Energy soon arrived and stopped the leak, allowing the roadway to re-open by around 11:20.
