| 2012 was deadly year on Kentucky roads |
|
Last year was a deadly one on Kentucky roadways and experts say many of those tragedies were preventable. Kentucky State Police say a total of 737 people were killed on commonwealth roads, which was an increase of 17 from the previous year. KSP Sgt. Rick Saint-Blancard says what makes that number even more tragic is how many were not buckled up.
Sgt. Saint-Blancard says distracted driving also contributed to several of the wrecks that claimed lives last year.
KSP says 140 people lost their lives in wrecks involving the suspected used of alcohol and that 321 of the 586 people killed in motor vehicles were not wearing a seat belt. ** 01/03/2013/am |
