Wreck in mall parking lot injures one

An accident in the parking lot at Peebles yesterday afternoon sent a local woman to the hospital.

The incident happened just after 4pm, according to the report from Hopkinsville Police, which says 84-year old Douglas Kirkman of Hopkinsville backed out of a parking spot into the path of a vehicle driven by 49-year old Debra Quarles of Hopkinsville.

Kirkman told Officer Spencer Loftus that he never saw Ms. Quarles’ vehicle before they collided. Ms. Quarles complained of neck pain and was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, while Kirkman went uninjured.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belt.
