Details are now known about the two-vehicle wreck on East 1^st Street from New Years Day that injured two people.

The incident happened just before 2pm at the Lewis Street intersection. The Hopkinsville Police report says 29-year old Eric Merritt of Hopkinsville was eastbound on 1^st when 24-year old Tanisha Hobson of Hopkinsville said her brakes failed at the stop sign on Lewis.

Ms. Hobson’s vehicle hit Meritt’s in the passenger side, causing injuries that sent both drivers to Jennie Stuart Medical Center—though they weren’t thought to be life-threatening. The report says everyone involved was wearing a seat belt.
