Media reports helped Kentucky State Police find and arrest the Sumner County, Tennessee inmate who fled while going to a doctor’s appointment in Bowling Green.
A news release from KSP says a maintenance worker at the Country Hearth Inn in Horse Cave called police after watching the WBKO 5 O’Clock News Thursday, saying 35-year old Stevie Robertson of Westmoreland was staying there under a different name.
Robertson went missing Wednesday while on a day long furlough from the Sumner County Jail to seek treatment at a doctor’s office in Bowling Green. He allegedly stole a car and fled after his appointment and media across the area had featured him in newscasts since police asked for the public’s help.
Roertson was serving time on vandalism and child sex charges and will now also be charged with being a fugitive from justice and with receiving stolen property over 10-thousand dollars. KSP says he surrendered without incident when troopers arrived at the hotel.
