Unattended running vehicle stolen in Clarksville

Clarksville Police say they are investigating a vehicle theft at an apartment complex after a woman left her car running and unlocked.

The report says 19-year old Whitney Young of Elder Street left her vehicle running and unattended outside of her apartment just before 11pm Wednesday night. Ms. Young told Officer David Sohn that she didn’t see anyone outside when she went back in to her apartment quickly, but that her 2001 Ford Taurus valued at $2,500 was gone when she came back out.

The car is described as gold in color with a dent on the passenger side. Public Information Officer Jim Knoll says vehicle thefts become more common in the winter when people tend to leave their car running to warm up. Officer Knoll also points out that it’s against the law to leave a vehicle running and unattended.
