The Kentucky New Era has announced it will add another weekly paper to its media family.

Today’s paper says the Princeton Times Leader, which is owned and operated by the Kentucky New Era, has reached an agreement to purchase the Dawson Springs Progress.

Times Leader Publisher Chip Hutcheson is quoted as saying his long-standing friendship with the Dillingham family, which owns the Progress, helped make him confident that the new arrangement will be successful. Kentucky New Era Publisher Taylor Hayes says the partnerships will help secure the future of the weekly paper in Dawson Springs.

The Progress was established in 1919 and has been owned by the Dillingham family since 1971. The transaction is expected to be finalized by the end of the year.
