Hopkinsville Police were able to safely and quickly put an end to a hostage situation on Summit Street Saturday morning, with a local woman arrested following the incident.

It happened at 1204 Summit around 11am, when 37-year old Briana McCombs of Hopkinsville allegedly went into a residence with a knife and threatened to harm four people inside if they tried to leave.

She allegedly argued with one of the individuals, while the other three sat in the living room. When police made contact with someone in t he residence, McCombs released the four individuals, but threatened to come after them if they didn’t keep their mouths shut about the situation.

McCombs was arrested and charged with four counts of kidnapping, first degree burglary and retaliating against a witness in a legal process.
