Governor Steve Beshear was in his hometown of Dawson Springs yesterday afternoon, where a ceremonial groundbreaking was held for part of an important project.

To continue to bring what was the Western Kentucky Parkway to interstate standards, the State Highway 109 interchange must be reconstructed. Governor Beshear pointed out that interchange was one of the many toll locations when the parkway was constructed.

Dawson Springs Mayor Jenny Sewell thanked the Governor for his efforts in bringing the local and overall project to fruition and said having Interstate 69 nearby will hopefully mean big things for the Hopkins County town.

The interchange project will cost about five million dollars and is part of the overall Interstate 69 project that will take the highway from the Ohio River in Henderson to the Tennessee border in Fulton County.
