Reception to be held Thursday for outgoing school board members

A reception will be held before Thursday night’s Christian County School Board meeting to honor two departing members.

A notice received in the mail says outgoing members Shelia Cottrell and Betsy Glover will be honored at the 5:30pm reception at the central office on Glass Avenue.

Ms. Cottrell chose not to run for re-election this year and will be replaced by Sarah Shepherd next month. Ms. Shepherd, who has served on the board before, defeated Clayton Boyd for the seat.

Ms. Glover lost by about 400 votes to Teresa Moss in the general election after filling out the unexpired term of Darryl Lynch who stepped down from the board in 2010.

The regular monthly meeting of the board will be at 6pm, with a Pilot Rock Road woman scheduled to comment on the future of Lacy Elementary School. The board will also hear an update on the Comprehensive District Improvement Plan from Director of Personnel Vicky Myers.
