The community continues to mourn the loss of local radio legend and longtime WHOP News Director Jim Love, who passed away yesterday morning after a long battle with cancer.

Love was well enough in May to be honored with a dinner at the War Memorial Building where the man who hired him in 1972 was one of the speakers. Former WHOP General Manager and owner Roger Jeffers said Jim was at the top of his list when it came to all-time best employees at the station.

Like everyone else who has commented on Jim, Jeffers talked about the kind of person Love was and about the devotion he showed to the people he called friends.

Love was honored with the J.T. Whitlock Life Service Award this fall at the Kentucky Broadcasters Association meeting in Louisville.
