Christmas came early for hundreds of Fort Campbell children.
Soldiers assigned to the 1-32nd Cavalry Regiment along with their families were invited to attend a regiment holiday party that featured great food, music, door prizes and a visit from Santa.
Brandi Sharkey, the wife of Staff Sergeant Ryan Sharkey of Delta Troop, said the holiday gathering was a nice break from daily routine.
Ms. Sharkey says she was also thankful to be able to spend the holidays with her children and husband, since over 100 soldiers from the unit are currently deployed in Afghanistan for a nine-month rotation.
Soldiers assigned to the regiment who did not deploy recently concluded a live-fire exercise with many soldiers saying they were glad to have a break to enjoy the holidays with family and friends.
