A good samaritan was killed in a wreck in Muhlenberg County Friday morning after pulling over to help a man who had ran off the road.
Kentucky State Police say 29-year old Nathan Shemwell of Greenville was southbound on KY 431 about four miles north of Dunmor when he ran off the road. Stopping to help was 65-year old David Ragland of Murfreesboro, Tennessee who got out of his pickup.
Southbound in a dump truck was 59-year old Jesse Banks of Russellville, who tried to slow down in a curve when he saw the incident, but lost control and slid on the wet pavement. The dump truck struck Ragland and his pickup, killing Ragland at the scene.
Ragland’s brother, 70-year old Charles Ragland of Bethpage, Tennessee, was treated and released from Muhlenberg Community Hospital for injuries he sustained. Shemwell and Banks went uninjured.
