Festival of Trees now open for viewing

Officials with the Christian County Chamber of Commerce officially kicked off its annual Festival of Trees tonight with hundreds of residents showing up to marvel at the ornately decorated trees at the A.W. Watts Senior Center.

Each tree was decorated and then donated by area businesses and organizations with Yasamin Ausenbaugh with the local Chamber of Commerce announcing the winners of this year’s tree decoration competition.

Hopkinsville Middle School received the Most Original Theme distinction, while MidWest America Federal Credit Union received Best in Decoration, while Sinking Fork Elementary School received the Best in Show title.

First time attendee Katie Collins of Hopkinsville says she was amazed how well each tree was decorated.

Ms. Collins also spoke about the tree she favored the most.

Residents will also be able to purchase tickets for the chance to win their favorite tree.

This year marks the 3rd anniversary of the Festival of Trees with residents able to view the trees until Sunday, December 16th.
