The first Christmas parade in three decades in Elkton will have a recently re-elected grand marshal leading the way when it departs Todd County Central High School.
Elkton’s Christmas Parade begins at the school at 6pm and will make its way around the historic public square. The grand marshal will be State Representative Martha Jane King, who says it’s only the second time in her tenure she’s been honored in such a way.
The Logan County native and resident says she’s had a very good relationship with the people of Todd County, but she was surprised to be chosen as grand marshal.
Christmas in Elkton continues after the parade with Christmas carols led by the West Side Church of Christ on the square at 6:30. There will be free pictures with Santa at the community house from 7 until 9:30 and free horse drawn carriage rides from 7 until 9:30 sponsored by the Todd County Community Alliance.
Several Elkton merchants will also be featuring Christmas specials throughout the day in honor of the occasion.
