Hopkinsville City Council approve smoking ban fines

Hopkinsville city council tonight didn’t waste any time when it came to approving several house keeping measures including an amended ordinance concerning the city-wide public smoking ban.

Hopkinsville Mayor Dan Kemp explains more details of  the amended ordinance of the code enforcement board fines.

          

The amended ordinance was unanimously passed on first reading and under the ordinance, residents who are caught smoking in enclosed public places and work places will be charged $100 for the first offense, $150 for the second offense and $300 for the third offense.

In other action, council members unanimously approved the second reading of the two ordinances concerning pawn brokers and precious metals and gem dealers with Mayor Kemp explaining more details of the ordinances.

          

Council members Kimberly Mccarley, Paul Henson, Ann Cherry and Phillip Brooks were absent from tonight’s meeting.
