Local medical lab performs over a million tests annually

The Department of Laboratory Medicine at Jennie Stuart Medical Center features the most up-to-date and state of the art equipment across the nation.

About 60 employees are responsible for managing and operating the 24-hour, 7 day a week facility.

Chief Medical Technologist and Laboratory Manager, Mike Stokes talks about the many departments housed within the laboratory, which serves surrounding and nearby counties of Christian County and even Montgomery County, Tennessee



Each year, the lab performs about 1.2 million tests a year with Stokes saying despite the heavy work load, the quality and care that goes into analyzing each specimen is top notch.



The laboratory recently achieved the prestigious "Accreditation with Distinction" by making a perfect score on its most recent on-site survey by the College of American Pathologists.
