The Kentucky General Assembly needed a special session to pass the so-called “Pill Mill Bill” this year, but that legislation will likely be changed some when lawmakers head back to Frankfort next month.

State Representative Brent Yonts says there have been some issues with the bill causing more unnecessary problems for doctors and patients that were never intended.

The bill was meant to require doctors to use the CASPER prescription-tracking computer system, which has shown to change how physicians prescribe medication about 80-percent of the time.

Representative Yonts and many others are still for that aspect of the bill, but other regulations enacted may need to be changed in the upcoming short session.

Lawmakers will also be wrestling with re-districting, pension reform, special taxing districts, tax reform and many other issues when they convene in Frankfort.
