| Guthrie, Trenton, Cadiz and Clarksville Christmas parades set for Saturday |
|
Hopkinsville is by no means the only local community holding a Christmas Parade this weekend. The City of Trenton will host its sixth annual parade beginning at 3pm on Main Street, with participants to line up on Cemetery Street by 2:30. Following the parade, attendees will meet at the old Trenton School for the annual tree lighting ceremony. Santa Claus is also scheduled to be in Trenton to receive wish lists from children in the town. The Todd Central Rebel band will provide Christmas music. That parade follows a 10am Christmas Parade in downtown Guthrie, with a “soup and sandwiches with Santa” fundraiser to follow at the Guthrie Senior Citizen’s Center. Santa will be joined by Mrs. Claus for that event and music will be provided by the Clarksville Northeast High School Choir Rudolph will have to make haste to get Santa to Cadiz by 4pm, when the annual Cadiz Christmas parade kicks off at 4pm at Trigg County Middle School. The nighttime parade is always popular because of the creative and well-lit floats. The theme of this year’s Cadiz parade is “Bring Christmas Home.” Santa will then make the short run down I-24 to participate in the Clarksville Christmas parade at 5pm. The Austin Peay and Tennessee State marching bands will be participating as well as dozens of businesses and organizations. The Clarksville parade begins on 8th Street on the campus of Austin Peay and loops through downtown before concluding back on campus. ** |
