Two people were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle wreck in Trigg County Monday night. The incident happened around 8pm about a quarter mile east of Southern States on U.S. 68-80, which is near the 21 mile-marker. The State Highway Department says one vehicle hit a deer, with a second stopping to assist that motorist. An oncoming tractor-trailer struck both of those vehicles, seriously injuring two individuals. The Trigg County Rescue Squad worked to remove a victim from the wreckage in the cold and rainy conditions. Kentucky State Police was called in to reconstruct the scene, along with Kentucky Commercial Vehicle Enforcement. Both eastbound lanes of 68 East were closed until just after midnight. We’ll have more on this story as information becomes available. ** 11/26/2012/AM
