Woman killed in Clarksville wreck

A Bowling Green woman was killed in a wreck in Clarksville Saturday afternoon.

A news release from Clarksville Police says 86-year old Evelyn Ray of Bowling Green was northbound on Old Farmers Road around 4pm when she failed to yield the right of way to a vehicle on U.S. Highway 76 driven by 26-year old Maurice Pitts of Clarksville, who didn’t have time to stop and the vehicles collided in the intersection

Ms. Ray was taken by Life Flight helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she would die from her injuries.

Pitts was taken to Gateway Medical Center and later transported by ambulance to Vanderbilt for treatment of multiple leg fractures. The incident marked the 15th traffic fatality in Clarksville this year.
