KYTC Secretary elected to serve on national committee

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Secretary Mike Hancock has been elected as the Vice-President of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.

The organization represents all state transportation agencies with Hancock saying he was honored to be elected to the position for the coming year.

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, which is known as AASHTO for short, is a non-profit, nonpartisan association representing highway and transportation departments in all states and also represents five transportation modes: air, highways, public transportation, rail, and water.

The mission of the organization is to advocate for transportation-related policies and provide technical support to states in their efforts to efficiently and safely move people.

Secretary Hancock will be a part of a 12-person executive committee to lead the organization and will work closely with the association’s newly elected president – Michael Lewis, director of transportation in Rhode Island.
