| Westerfield keeps 297 vote margin after recanvass |
|
Election night ended with Whitney Westerfield holding a 297 vote margin over State Senator Joey Pendleton in Christian, Todd and Logan Counties and a recanvass this morning didn’t change anything. The Board of Elections in the three counties all went back and looked at the tapes, which resulted in no changes. Westerfield said he was thankful for the win on Election Day and thankful for the recanvass results.
Senator Pendleton was also at the courthouse and said being out of office will give him more time to spend with family and to focus on staying healthy—though he says he isn’t going completely away.
Westerfield says he was honored to meet the people of the Third District and was humbled by their confidence in him.
Westerfield was able to win all three counties—but enjoyed the largest margin of victory in Logan County. Senator Pendleton has served Christian and Todd Counties in the upper chamber since 1993 after he defeated then-incumbent Pat McCuiston in 1992. ** 11/15/2012/am |
