Ky. Ag Commissioner pushing for Industrial Hemp legislation

Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Jamie Comer says he wants farmers in the commonwealth to be planting industrial hemp within the next two years.

Commissioner Comer is now the chairman of the state Industrial Hemp Commission and says he believes hemp legislation has a better chance of passing in the General Assembly with new leadership in the senate.

Comer says he would love to see hemp grown in Kentucky in 2014.

State legislation won’t matter if the federal government doesn’t pass legislation to clear the way, and U.S. Senator Rand Paul has vowed to fight for that cause in Washington.
