|
A Hopkinsville man was arrested Friday afternoon on wanton endangerment and other charges after allegedly making disturbing threats to a woman and starting a small fire. Served with a warrant on wanton endangerment, criminal mischief and terroristic threatening charges was 27-year old Donald Ray Merritt of Hopkinsville. The warrant says Merritt texted a woman Friday and said he hoped someone raped and killed her and that someone would shoot her house. He also allegedly said he hoped her children were scared and the warrant alleges that he broke a window in the woman’s home. That followed an incident on November 2nd when Merritt allegedly told the woman that he hoped he could shoot her and get away with it and that he hoped her house would burn down. A friend later called the woman to say there was something burning on her apartment porch. Merritt later allegedly told the woman he was sorry about the incident and police were not called until several days later. He remains in the Christian County Jail on $6,400 bond. ** 11/11/2012/am |
