| Westerfield upsets Senator Pendleton |
|
While the nation’s eyes were on the Presidential election, the eyes and ears of residents in Christian, Todd and Logan Counties were following an extremely close race for the State Senate that ended with an upset. Republican Challenger Whitney Westerfield upset 20-year incumbent State Senator Joey Pendleton 18,457-18,160 overall and narrowly won all three counties. Westerfield won Christian County by 26 votes, Todd County by 39 votes and Logan County by 232 votes. Westerfield says he stuck with the same message through his campaign and it worked.
State Senator Joey Pendleton says there have been several major success stories during his tenure in Frankfort that allow him to leave with his head held high.
The Senator says he believes the most important of all those success stories could very well be the Todd County Career Path Institute, which will be built on the campus of Todd County Central High School, assuming federal grant money comes through as expected. ** 11/07/2012/am
