Kentucky State Police wants to make sure parents review safety tips with their little ghost and goblins before they go trick-or-treating this year.

KSP Spokesman, Sergeant Rick Saint-Blancard says Halloween is traditionally a time for children to have fun, but most often it is the children who can be injured by situations that are avoidable.

Saint-Blancard encourages parents to make sure their child’s costume does not obstruct their vision and so cumbersome where they can trip over it.

Parents are urged to make sure their child carries a flashlight, glow stick or has reflective tape on their costume to make them more visible.

State Police also say younger children should be accompanied by an adult or an older sibling, candy should be inspected by an adult before they are eaten and to remind children to not enter a stranger house or car.

KSP also wants to remind those driving on Halloween to be extra cautious of our small pedestrians.
