| Two local post offices in danger of changes |
|
Two area post offices are in danger of having their operating hours changed or of even being closed and public meetings are scheduled this month in both communities. A meeting regarding the Trenton Post Office is set for 4:30pm on October 17th at the Trenton Community Center, while there will be a 1pm meeting on October 31st at the Herndon Volunteer Fire Department regarding that community’s post office. Congressman Ed Whitfield represents Todd and Christian Counties in Washington and says he’s had considerable discussions with the U.S. Postal Service about offices in his large district.
Congressman Whitfield says he’s also heard from concerned citizens who want to keep their post office operating as-is.
The Clifty Post Office was saved a few years ago, while residents of Lafayette didn’t turn out so lucky a few months ago. ** 10/08/2012/am |
