Congressman Whitfield disappointed with national jobless rate

Congressman Ed Whitfield says last month’s jobless rate report is another reminder that economic policies are failing.

Congressman Whitfield made the following statement concerning today’s report on the September jobs numbers.

Whitfield was quoted as saying that even though the country saw a minor decrease in the unemployment rate, which was down from 8.1 percent to 7.8 percent, the broader rate of unemployed and underemployed individuals remained steady at 14.7%.

While the national jobless rate decreased, the unemployment rate in Kentucky increased with Congressman Whitfield saying people are still struggling, and that President Barack Obama needs to do more to ensure everyone who wants a job can find a job.
